Use The Back Door. (3 Interesting Keys That Will Help You Do That)

Estimated reading time: 12 minutes

Has God been nudging you to use the back door? So here you are with a dream that is contrary to your current situation and you are wondering what to do with it. Maybe you desire to get into a specific field but have been unable to step in due to unemployment or lack of experience. And you are now wondering if you will ever step into that field or whether it is time for you to let the dream go. And maybe because you have been unemployed for so long you feel like it can never happen for you.

Are you tired of holding on to your dream because you have tried for so long and nothing seems to work? Are you in that space where your situation is forcing you to let go of something you’ve desired for so long? Today I have a word for you. I want us to understand what to do when you’ve pushed your dream for so long yet nothing seems to be working. And how you can use the back door to get to where you have always desired to be.

First off, how do you know if it’s time to let the dream die or continue to hold on?

When God wants you to hold on to a dream, He will give you glimpses of your future.

The goal is to ensure that your faith remains activated despite your situation. You see, Abraham wanted to give up so many times on his dream of becoming a father. He had even decided to leave his inheritance to Eleazor his employee once he was gone. Not only that when his wife Sarah asked him to sire a child through Hagar her maid, he also did not say no. And again when God reminded him of his promise to him, he even told God to bless Ishmael instead. Abraham grew weary in the waiting. And I want to believe that you too have grown weary in the waiting. But one thing God will do is that in the midst of the weariness God will give you a glimmer of hope to give you the faith to hold on.

Practically this could look like someone encouraging you to keep applying for a job, regardless of how many nos you get. Or it could look like you having one more person read your blog when you want to give up on it. Sometimes it could be someone commenting and telling you that what you are doing has helped them. A dream or a vision could also be something else that God gives you. Either way, when God wants you to hold on to a dream, He will give you winks along the way to motivate you especially when you have grown weary.

You will have a desire that you cannot shake off.

You see, it’s very difficult to let go of a dream that God gave you. Regardless of how far you run, you will find yourself circling back to it.

Now that we have identified that the dream is valid, how then can you activate it to ensure that it comes to pass? Well, today I have a different answer for you, and that is to use the back door. You see, there are times when waiting for the front door to swing open will not cut it. And sometimes you might end up waiting forever and it never comes to be. Now of course God does have His timing. And the issue could be that it’s not yet time.

But I just want to give you another perspective. And that is, could it be that God wants you to use another route? Could it be that God wants you to use what you have right now to allow you to open the door for what you need? What if this whole time, God has been waiting on you to do something different so that He can do His part? Think about this for a second. The prophet’s widow had her debt cleared by following uncommon instructions.

She borrowed her Ricans and used her tiny jar of oil to fill the Jerricans. And through that, she had her needs met and had more left to spare. Elijah had to go to the wilderness to get his provision which came from a raven. Imagine that. Could it be that God wants you to use another route? Let me ask you this, let’s say you wanted to get into the finance field, but you have been unable to get a job, could it be that God wants to open a door for you in the same field through you sharing your knowledge online? Could it be that the reason you have yet to experience breakthroughs is that you are not willing to step out of the boat or think outside the box?

Think about the friends of the sick man who had to lower him from the roof so that they could get to Jesus. Would their friend have been healed if they had followed the familiar path? Child of God, God does not always use the common ways to bring solutions to your problem. Oftentimes, He will use unfamiliar ways because ultimately all glory will go to Him. So, let me ask you this, to step into that space you’ve always wanted to, what are you willing to do? And how will you use what you have to get there? Do you know that lack of knowledge is the reason people perish? It has nothing to do with experience but knowledge.

Joseph used what he knew to do which was interpret dreams to get to 2nd in command. Imagine that. Just one dream interpretation led to him getting 2nd in command and finally experiencing the physical manifestation of his dream. The woman with the issue of blood received her healing by touching the hem of Jesus’s garment.

How then can you get to the point where you have the confidence to use the back door?

Having Faith will give you the confidence to use the back door.

Faith is what will get you to see opportunities in situations where there seem to be none. You see, it was faith that led the woman with the issue of blood to believe that her method would work. No one had done it before so she had no reference, but still, she allowed her faith to get her to make a bold move. And this led to her healing. The same goes for you. You need to have faith to take that step. You see, you cannot keep staying where you are and doing things as you have always done and expecting a change. That’s ridiculous. If nothing has changed yet, why keep waiting for the door to open? Do something.

Maybe it is time for you to start that blog or that YouTube channel. Maybe God wants you to write a book. Who knows that blog or book might be what will open the door in that field you’ve always desired. God might lay it in the heart of your boss to read the book and through that get your opportunity. Have the faith to put yourself out there. You never know what God will use to get you to your promised land. But one thing you need to know is that God will not do your part for you. You need to do your part so THAT He can do His part.

How then can you ignite your faith?

The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. So, if you want to activate your faith you need to.

  1. Read the word of God. The word of God is filled with faith-building scriptures and stories, so if you want to ignite your faith then that is a good place for you to start. You see, faith is what will attract God o your situation. After all, He says that without faith it is impossible to please Him. And throughout Jesus’s ministry, we see that most of the people who received their healing got healed because of their faith. Read the word of God daily. After all, if you want to renew your mind you need to fill it with what you want to see. How else will you speak faith when you don’t listen and read faith-building words?
  2. Be careful of who you allow to speak over you. If you are trying to lose weight, you will naturally want to hang out with people who are on the same journey as you to help motivate you. The same case applies here. Surround yourself with faith-filled believers who will ignite your faith and encourage you when you want to give up. Mary Went to Elizabeth for encouragement because she knew Elizabeth would understand her situation. Find people who you can relate to and let them be your sounding board. Remember it is only impossible until it happens. Don’t allow other people’s insecurities to hinder you from achieving your dream regardless of how long you have waited for it. Everything is possible with God.
  3. Listen to other people’s testimonies. The fastest and easiest way to ignite your faith is by listening to other people’s testimonies. Once you realize what God did for them, you will have the confidence to believe that He will do it for you too. After all, He is the same God. The fact that He remembered Joseph means that He will remember you too. Don’t give up. Keep believing and recognize that everything will work out for your good because you believe in God.

Preparation is key if you want to position yourself to use the back door.

Preparation is key. Both Joseph and David prepared when they were in the waiting season. Of course, they did not know how it was going to happen yet they prepared. Joseph stayed in constant communion with God. That is why it was easy for him to interpret Pharaoh’s dream because he could discern God’s voice. Not only that, he had learned to interpret his own dreams as well as those of the butler and wine presser. Preparation leads to elevation when the opportunity presents itself. That is why the book of Proverbs reminds us that a man’s gifts make room for him before kings and queens.

How do you prepare?

  • Use what you have. Maybe right now this looks like you learning on YouTube, do it. Spend your time soaking in all the I formation you need. You never know when the opportunity will present itself. If you are looking to get into the professional space, start researching how to relate with your colleagues. Learn all the soft skills you can. Again, preparation will look different depending on what you are looking for. Regardless, prepare anyway. Preparation is also an act of faith. Are you good at writing, start a blog? You never know who will find it. We have read so many stories of people who got their first job because their bosses read their blogs or saw their portfolios. Do that as well.

Stay rooted in God and be consistent.

And your diligence will open the door for you. Elijah travailed until he saw a cloud. You too don’t up. Remember it is consistency that leads to success and longevity.

Staying rooted in God will ensure that you don’t miss out on an opportunity when God presents it to you. Remember, the goal is to use the back door. You will not know what it looks like unless God tells you. And you will not discern when God is speaking if you don’t spend time with Him. Spending time with God looks like you setting time to intentionally hear from Him. Prayer, praise, worship, and devotion are all ways you can use to spend time with Him. Meditation and solitude are other ways as well. Don’t forget to journal what God is speaking. You never know, He might give you your strategy on how to use the back door when you least expect it.

Be expectant that God will speak. This will help you discern quickly when God gives you the green light to use the back door.

You see, you cannot gain the courage to take the first step when you are not expectant that God will speak. Elijah knew that God would send rain and he expected it. That was why he sent his servant to check for the sign 6 times. And it was not until the 7th time that his servant saw a sign. You see, the reason Elijah could hold on, was because he expected God to do what He said. You need to get to the point where you trust God’s character and His word.

When God is leading you to use the back door, being expectant that He will speak and lead is highly needed. After all, how else will you move when you don’t know He is leading? And how will you know He is leading when you don’t expect Him to do it?

Conclusion.

Using the back door is okay too. The goal is to get to your promised land. And as long as you are rooted in God the way you get there will not matter. Don’t be afraid to follow an unfamiliar path when He tells you to. God will use unfamiliar ways to get you to the place you have always desired. Just because it challenges your tradition does not mean it did not come from God. Be open to what God is doing. He is always doing a new thing; can you perceive it? Don’t allow the status quo to define you. You are a child of God and This means you are different because you answer to different rules. Don’t be afraid to make the bold move today.
