your soul nourished and refreshed

DO YOU NEED YOUR SOUL NOURISHED AND REFRESHED?

Do you need your soul nourished and refreshed? Have you been feeling thirsty? Today I have a word for you. Feeling thirsty can cause one to feel lethargic and drained. But once you have taken water, you feel refreshed and brand new. In Isiah 55, we see God invite us to be filled by Him. He promises that what He has is beneficial and ultimately what we need. God even says that what He offers we don’t need to buy rather, we can just receive it. The first 2 verses of Isaiah 55 show us how God desires to satisfy us. He wants to give us the finest of everything that will give us abundance in this land of the living. Let us look at Isaiah 55:1-2 in-depth for a second.

1. Hey, are you thirsty? Come to the water! Are you penniless? Come anyway- buy and eat.

God is asking you to come to Him with all your burdens, worry, and pain. This is one of the ways you can have your soul nourished and refreshed. Everything that is draining you, take it to God. God is talking to both the rich and the poor. God does not discriminate, whether spiritually or physically poor, or vice versa. He is looking for a willing heart. After all, He gives rain to both the righteous and the wicked. You do not have to earn anything from God or even prove yourself for Him to replenish you. Jesus already paid the price for you on the cross. So in Him, you have access to it all.

When one is thirsty, they need water for refreshment. Jesus is the life-giving water, and He too refreshes your soul and restores it as well. Jesus is the water needed to have your soul nourished and refreshed. He even said to the Samaritan woman that anyone who drinks from Him will never thirst again. Jesus came to give you rest. He tells us to come to Him all who are heavily burdened and you will receive rest. When one is thirsty, that is the body signaling you to tell you-you are dehydrated and in need of water. For you to quench your thirst, you have to take water. The same concept applies here. Jesus says that He is the living water, and He who drinks from Him will never thirst again.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” She *said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst, but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:

Reading the scripture above, we see Jesus promises that with Him we are complete. He is all you need when you need your soul nourished and refreshed. When you feel spiritually drained, you can turn to Him for rehydration. Being human means that you will experience seasons where you feel drained and spiritually dry. Therefore, Jesus is inviting you to draw from Him. Although Jesus has already told us He is the living water, He cannot override your free will and force you to drink from Him. Choose to go to Him. That is why He is beckoning you to come. Once you take the first step, He will do the rest.

Ways you can draw from the living water that is Jesus.

Just because you know Jesus is the living water does not mean that He will automatically fill you up. This is because of your free will. Jesus can never override it. He will only beckon you, but then He leaves everything up to you. And if you are ready to experience Jesus as the living water, here are some keys that will help you.

  1. Believe in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. The Bible clearly states that for you to have Jesus dwell inside you, you have to receive Him as your Lord and Saviour. In fact, there is a scripture that says, out of your innermost being will flow rivers of living water. And for you to experience this, you have to have a personal relationship with Jesus. This comes through believing that Jesus is Lord and confessing with your mouth. You have to invite Jesus into your heart and allow Him to be Lord over your life. It is through this that you will get to experience Him as the living water and One who refreshes. So let me ask you this: do you have a relationship with Jesus? Do you know Him for yourself? If yes, this is great. If you said no, I want to encourage you to resolve in your heart to do so today. Your life will never be the same again. And know that the whole of heaven is celebrating your decision to come to Jesus. Believing in Jesus is the key to having your soul nourished and refreshed. Jesus heals and rejuvenates your spirit, soul, and body.
  2. Spending time with Jesus. Intentionally setting time aside to spend with Jesus is also another way you can experience Jesus as the living water. The verse in Isaiah 55:1 clearly tells us that the first thing we need to do is to come. So Jesus requires you to take an action. Be determined to spend time with Him. You can do so through prayer, worship, and praise. You know what you focus on, you empower. So if you want to experience Jesus as the life-giving water, spend time with Jesus. Prayer is communicating with Him. In prayer lay your soul bare. Remember, Jesus will only heal what you bring to Him. So if you want your soul nourished and refreshed, then tell Him. He already paid the price, so all you have to do is receive His salvation, redemption, and refreshment. When you worship, praise, and pray, you give room for Jesus to replace what is not of Him with Him. Whenever you are spending time with God, there is an exchange that happens. And it is in this exchange that there is an activation of the living waters in your innermost being. Remember, the minute you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, He comes to live inside you. And that’s where the activation comes from.
  3. Reading the Bible. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Your faith is activated when you have experiential knowledge of Jesus. Again, you can only believe what Jesus is saying when you know Him. And for you to know Him, you have to read the Bible because it talks about Him. The Bible tells us what we need to know about Jesus. The more you read the Bible, the more you get to know about Jesus. And as you get to know more about Jesus, it becomes easy to accept what He tells you and to receive every aspect of Him. Knowing Jesus personally gives you the confidence to trust Him. And in doing so, you can come to Him and receive from Him when He tells you to. When you read your Bible, you will have your soul nourished and refreshed.
  4. Receiving the Holy S[irit. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. After Jesus ascended to heaven, He sent us the Holy Spirit to be our helper and to help us live holy. The Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to us. And again through that, you gain the confidence to trust Jesus and follow His lead. Because of the Holy Spirit, you can obey Jesus and live right. Through Him, you receive your identity, which brings about rejuvenation and revitalization.

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38)

2. Come buy your drinks, buy your milk and wine. Buy without money- everything is free!

Jesus came so that you and I can have an abundant life. You do not have to pay the price to get what you need because Jesus already paid the price once and for all; He wiped out the handwriting of the requirement for you and me. Milk is food for newborns, they have to take it for them to get nourished and grow. Without milk, they will not develop as they should. That is why there are all these campaigns on women breastfeeding their babies for a period and the associated benefits.

Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:14)

Milk: meaning and benefits

  • Provides optimal nutrition for babies
  • Has the right amount of nutrients and
  • Is easily digested and readily available.

Breast milk changes as the baby grows. Initially, it is thick, and yellow to help the baby’s immature digestive tracts to grow. Then from there it changes and increases as the baby’s stomach grows. The nutrients found in breast milk are formulated in the right proportion, so the baby gets the best possible nutrients needed at each stage of their growth. The milk is also easily digested to accommodate the baby’s delicate digestive tract, and it is easily available as the baby’s mother produces it even before the baby is born.

When we look at the benefits of milk, we can see its relationship to God’s word as it pertains to Christianity. Once you have accepted Jesus’ call, you will experience hunger to know Him. This is because your spirit man has come alive, i.e. you are now born again. And the only way you will quench this hunger is by spending time with Him. Reading the Bible and praying is one of the best ways to spend time with God. Paul reminds us that the Bible which contains the word of God is milk for the believers. In it, you will find all the answers you need to help you grow spiritually. It has all the nutrients you need in the right dosage and is easily accessible. Whether it’s a question of forgiveness, hurt, finances, or relationships. The Bible has all the answers you need.

When you read the Bible, you get to read Jesus’ letters to you, and when you pray, you get to respond to the letters. The Holy Spirit will also help the words come alive and give you the revelation of what you need to know and how to activate every word. The more you read the Bible, the more you will grow spiritually.

wine

Wine symbolizes joy. The Jews always have wine during feasts and celebrations. Jesus tells us in Him there is fullness of joy. So you do not have to get drunk with wine to find joy. Instead, seek Jesus as His joy is unexplainable. Do you feel you need joy? Yes, the Word of God will nourish you, but Jesus also wants you to experience joy. There is always something going on in the world that can easily take away your joy. But if you get filled with the Joy of the Lord, which by the way is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. He will fulfill you.

Even when everything around you is falling apart, you will have inner joy. That does not mean you will ignore the problem or that the problem is not real. What I mean is, that the external circumstances will not rob you of your inner joy because your source will not remove joy from your life.

Joy is very different from happiness. Joy bubbles from deep within. And is not dependent on your circumstances. When you have joy, you have hope. This is because joy assures you that things will be okay because Jesus has it all together. And this gives you hope to press on despite what you are experiencing.

Bible verses about joy.

James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Proverbs 10:28

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

1 Peter 1:8-9

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with inexpressible and glorious joy,  for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Nehemiah 8:10

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Psalm 16:11

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Conclusion

When you need your soul to be nourished and refreshed, you can turn to Jesus. Everything you need is found in Him. And the best part is that it is free because He already paid the price. When He died on the cross, He said it is finished and He meant it. So you don’t have to go about your life feeling lethargic and in lack. Whatever you need you can trust that Jesus will help you out with it. He is your friend and He loves you. The Bible says that the Love that Jesus has for you led Him to the cross.

The Bible tells us that Jesus considered not the pain of the cross because of the joy set before Him. And this joy is you. He wanted to translate you out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. And it is now your turn to receive all that He did for you and experience the fullness in Him. Remember that you have been blessed with all the spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, So why would you live like a pauper when you are the child of God. Why fill your heart with all the junk and be overburdened?

The yoke that Jesus has for you is easy, and His burden is light. Don’t go a moment longer living as you have been. Take the plunge and go all-in today. Are you ready to run to Jesus with your problems? Friend, He is waiting with open arms and He wants to give you rest and life in abundance! What do you have to lose?

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)
