Plowing
Spiritual growth in the wilderness and waiting season

Plowing! Are you going through it?

Farmers can really help us see an aspect of God in our lives. God has a purpose for every one of us and just like a farmer knows the best ground to plant a certain seed, God also has a reason He created us. If we look at ourselves for a second as grounds, we realize that there are seeds that God put within us that need to grow. Just like a farmer has to know the best season to plant particular seeds, God knows the best time to reveal the seeds He planted in us and the best condition required for the seed to sprout. That is why God takes us through the plowing process.

Heart preparation

During land preparation, a farmer has to plow the ground. The plowing process allows the clod to be removed from the soil so that the land can go back to its original place. The plowing process also leads to soil renovation which increases porosity, which is essential for the passage of water, oxygen, and nutrients, thus providing the best environment for the seed to thrive. This is the same with God. Before He can reveal our God-given purpose, He has to ensure that the soil in our hearts is conducive for the maximum growth of the seeds.

When God is doing the shaking and the tearing down, he aims to soften us so we can make room for the Holy Spirit to move in our lives. When our heart is softened, we can easily hear the Holy Spirit leading us and so we get in tune with God’s purpose. The clod in our heart includes limiting beliefs and mindset, a wrong view of God, and the idols in our hearts. God breaks it all out to get to the root. The process involves a lot of pain, anger, separation, and loss. In the breaking, we feel hopeless and exhausted. There usually is a lot of confusion and a lack of balance.

Prayer

Prayer is vital when one is going through the plowing season. This is the one thing that will keep you from losing your mind. When you pray, God gives you the strength to keep going. He also gives you the peace to navigate the pain.

Reading The Bible

Reading the Bible is also another thing, through reading the word you will get hope, stay encouraged as you realize others went through the same and they received their reward. The story of Naomi is one that can encourage you. She went through a season of loss and pain, and in the natural, it looked like it was over. But God came through for her and restored her. In fact, she is included in the lineage of Jesus. I am convinced that when Naomi was going through the season of pain and loss, not once did she think she would experience restoration, yet she did. God gave her a grandchild through her daughter-in-law, Ruth.

Flexibility

Flexibility is also key. Looking at Naomi, we can see that God did not come through for her as she thought. She thought she had to get married again for there to be redemption for her. But God used her daughter-in-law (not blood-related) to restore her. Once Naomi was comfortable accepting Ruth as her own, God then opened her eyes to see Boaz and thus she became the divine helper of Ruth in her marriage to Boaz.

Take it a day at a time

Take it a day at a time. When one is in the wilderness, the only concern is the daily sustenance? Don’t worry about anything else remember that God is your provider and in this season you need to look to Him as your sustainer. in doing so, you will receive the peace that will carry you throughout the season.

Develop a relationship with The Holy Spirit

Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to commune with you and be your friend. He wants to encourage you and give you His power and strength as you go through the breaking. Allow Him to commune with You. The easiest way to do so is to just call on Him and ask Him to come and commune with you. He is more than willing to do so, and He wants to. Give Him that chance and see Him give you joy even n the darkest of days.

Your latter days will be greater than the former. http://bible.us/1/hag2.9.amp Keep going.
