Maybe you have tried everything, and nothing seems to work. If this is you, then again, I have a word for you. And just like yesterday, we will use the life of Moses to get the signs that your breakthrough is near. If you have been wondering how you can tell if your breakthrough is near, then I encourage you to keep scrolling.

One of the most amazing things about God is that He never leaves us in the same state forever. He even tells us that our souls will not always be crushed because, at some point, our prayers get answered. This is evident in Psalms 9:18 which says that God will not forever ignore all the needs of the poor. For those in need shall not always be crushed. Their hopes shall be fulfilled because God sees all. Isn’t it amazing to know that God answers our prayers and that in the end, we receive our breakthrough? I hope this verse encourages you as it has me. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Now that we know God answers prayers, how then can we discern the times and see that God has answered us and a breakthrough is on the way?

4 signs that breakthrough is near.

  • You become so desperate for change that you cannot stand another day in the same place.
  • You have an encounter where God comes to you with an answer. God reveals an aspect of Himself that is specific to the breakthrough you need and the covenant He made.
  • God reveals to you some of the challenges you will experience on your way to breakthrough to give you a heads up
  • God gives you a promise of what is on the other side so that you can have something to look forward to in the midst of the problems
  • You come to the end of yourself and realize you cannot do it without God.

Let’s look at each in more detail. Again, we will use the story of Moses.

Desperation is a sign that your breakthrough is near

The Israelites got to where they were so done with the oppression that all they could do was cry out to God. The back story here is that the Israelites had been in bondage for 400+ years and they were being oppressed by the Egyptians. Anyway, the situation frustrated them so much that they cried out to God for help. They had reached their breaking point and knew that the only way for them was to get out of it. The Israelites could not take it any longer. They had had enough.

Many years later, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned under their slavery and cried out. Their cries for relief from their hard labor ascended to God: God listened to their groanings. God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and with Jacob. God saw what was going on with Israel. Go understood. Exodus 2:23‭-‬25 MSG

In the verses above, we see that the Israelites had had enough, and it was when they cried out to God that God remembered the covenant He made and knew it was time to act.

Have you reached your breaking point? Have you gotten to a place where all you want is for God to move on your behalf? The Israelites had to cry out to God for help. Have you? You know often we know we want to change, yet we do nothing. There is a cry that is so desperate that gets God’s attention. Remember Hannah? She got to that place of desperation and she poured her heart out to God completely, and it was in this place that God answered her prayer. Will you get to where you tell God that now is His time to act? Will you get to where you don’t care what it costs you as long as you receive your breakthrough? Daniel prayed for 21 days because he knew it was time for redemption.  Will you get to that point?

The encounter.

Once the Israelites’ cry for freedom reached God and God resolved to act, then there came a time for the call. God knew who to call to deliver them, and that was where the encounter came.

Moses was shepherding the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the west end of the wilderness and came to the mountain of God, Horeb. The angel of God appeared to him in flames of fire blazing out of the middle of a bush. He looked. The bush was blazing away but it didn’t burn up. Moses said, “What’s going on here? I can’t believe this! Amazing! Why doesn’t the bush burn up?” God saw he had stopped to look. God called to him from out of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Yes? I’m right here!” God said, “Don’t come any closer. Remove your sandals from your feet. You’re standing on holy ground.” Exodus 3:1‭-‬5 MSG

Sometimes it’s going to take you to be the one to deliver yourself. God used Moses to deliver the Israelites and in your case, God might be calling you to get yourself out of this predicament. But before that can happen, you will have an encounter with God. Everyone before they can walk in a breakthrough will have a burning bush experience. It might not be as dramatic as Moses” but it will change your life.

The burning bush experience will be very personal to you. Moses was familiar with bushes because he practically lived in the desert herding flocks. So you should know that the encounter you experience will be based on where you are. The only difference is that it will be so monumental that you cannot avoid it.

Some of the burning bush experiences you might experience might be.

  • Healing in your heart in a way that you never did before.
  • A desire to know more about God than you ever had before.
  • Wanting to learn the Bible more
  • Having the desire to learn more about the level you are going to
  • Sometimes it could be just wanting to get to the root of why things are yet to change in your life.

These are some of the burning Bush experiences. What other experiences can you think of? Leave them down in the comment below.

The Revelation

After having an encounter with God then Revelation will come. It is after the encounter that God will reveal Himself to you in that place of the encounter. He will tell you who He is. Something to note here is that He will reveal to you an aspect of Him that is congruent with the breakthrough you need and the covenant He gave. If you are facing financial problems, God will reveal to you He is Jehovah Jireh and that means Provider. The revelation will be so profound and personal that you cannot question it or deny it.

Then he said, “I am the God of your father: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face, afraid to look at God. God said, “I’ve taken a good, long look at the affliction of my people in Egypt. I’ve heard their cries for deliverance from their slave masters; I know all about their pain.

And now I have come down to help them, pry them loose from the grip of Egypt, get them out of that country and bring them to a good land with wide-open spaces, a land lush with milk and honey, the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. “The Israelite cry for help has come to me, and I’ve seen for myself how cruelly they’re being treated by the Egyptians. It’s time for you to go back: I’m sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the People of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:6‭-‬10 MSG

God clarified that He had come down as the Israelites’ deliverer and there was no question about that. He also iterated that He had heard their cries and that was why He helped. Further ahead when Moses questions Him about who He was, God gave him the same name He had given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And that was that He was the ‘I AM. This signified a covenant. This proves that God fulfills His promises so whatever He has promised you, rest assured that He will do it. Time is not immaterial to Him. As long as He said it, HE will fulfill it because He is not a man that He should lie.

Then Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the People of Israel and I tell them, ‘The God of your fathers sent me to you’; and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What do I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I-AM-WHO-I-AM. Tell the People of Israel, ‘I-AM sent me to you.’” God continued with Moses: “This is what you’ve to say to the Israelites: ‘God, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob sent me to you.’ This has always been my name, and this is how I always will be known. Exodus 3:13‭-‬15 MSG

The warning

God warned Moses that the assignment would not be easy. He told him how Pharaoh would say no to redemption and how it was the signs and wonders that would get the Israelites out.

But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless [he is forced] by a powerful hand. So I will reach out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders, which I shall do in the midst of it, and after that, he will let you go. Exodus 3:19‭-‬20 AMP

The Israelites had Pharaoh who would not let them go and so God warned Moses that it would take His intervention for Pharaoh to release them.

In your case, it might not be a physical Pharaoh that is holding you back. It could be your mindset that God wants you to change so that He can get you out. In this stage, God will warn you by telling you everything that is holding you back. Whether it is people or just mindsets that are keeping you stuck. Sometimes it could be the comfort zone. God will challenge all that, but before He does that, there will be exposure. You know often when we have been in the same place for a long time it is difficult to let go that’s why it’s difficult to get out.

The Promise.

Once God revealed Himself to Moses, He made Him a promise. The promise was to get him to look forward to the assignment at hand. The first promise was that the Israelites would worship God in that same mountain where Moses had the encounter.

And God said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve and worship God at this mountain.” Exodus 3:12 AMP

God was encouraging Moses to take up the task and His promise was that in that place of encounter, He would praise God for the breakthrough. It is in the same place of encounter that you will experience Thanksgiving because of answered prayers. God always wants to heal, and He does that by bringing joy to the place that was once full of pain. That very place you have encountered God and received Revelation will be the place you praise God and shout for joy. Don’t lose hope and don’t be scared of the journey

The other promise THAT God made to Moses was that the Israelites would be compensated for their trouble. Essentially, God was telling him they would get double for their trouble and they will not go out looking like they were in bondage. They would come out praising God because they would have everything they had worked for and recompense would be their portion too.

And I will grant these people favor and respect in the sight of the Egyptians; therefore, it shall be that when you go, you will not go empty-handed. But every woman shall [insistently] ask her neighbor and any woman who lives in her house for articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing, and you shall put them on your sons and daughters. In this way, you are to plunder the Egyptians [leaving bondage with great possessions that are rightfully yours].” Exodus 3:21‭-‬22 AMP

As you can see from this scripture, God will never get you out of bondage looking like someone who was in it, to begin with. He transforms and makes you shine so much so that no one will recognize you once you are out of that place of oppression and bondage.

Conclusion.

There are always some tell-tale signs your breakthrough is near. So when you see these signs, your breakthrough is around the corner. One thing to note is that as the breakthrough draws nigh, your need for God intensifies because what these signs will prove is that you will not do it on your own. You will require divine intervention to get you out of the place of oppression, especially if you have something hindering you from moving forward.

You could have some thought patterns that you need to change. This is going to require you to ask God to renew your mind. For your mind to be renewed, reading the Bible will be vital because it is the truth that disintegrates the lies you have been believing. Also, it will take you drawing closer to God, humbling yourself to Him for you to receive the courage and boldness you require to fight Goliath and finally break free.

The good thing is that you will not be doing it alone. God will be with you and He will give you the strategies you need to break free. He will show you how to pray and engage with the enemy so that you can experience the freedom Jesus purchased for you and me.

You will have moments where you will be so discouraged wondering if anything will ever come out of what you are doing. What I want to encourage you is to keep pushing because it gets worse before it can get better. Don’t give up because there is a reward with your name on it if you do not give up.
