WAITING FOR GOD WILL BE WORTH IT!

Estimated reading time: 11 minutes

Waiting for God to come through for you will be worth it. I know that you are tired of people telling you that the wait will be worth it. When one is in the season of waiting it can almost feel like the season will never come to an end. But just as it says in Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything, a season for planting and sowing, mourning and rejoicing know that it will eventually end. God established seasons on earth, and that’s why we have sunny seasons and rainy seasons too. So I just want to give you this truth in Psalm 9:18 which says that although the needy and afflicted are crushed, their hopes will be fulfilled. God promises you and me that although we go through seasons of suffering, it will not always be that way.

So now that we know this, what do we do as we are waiting for God to come through for us?

God wants us to be expectant in the wait.

When we live our lives expecting the promise, we will live differently. This is because we will have hope for the future, trust in the process, and faith in God. And we know that these 3 give us the strength to hold on even when things get tough. So although you are yet to see the promise manifest, be encouraged and trust that you will be okay even if it does not feel like it.

Hebrews 11.1 says that now Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. God clearly states that He rewards those who believe in Him and seek Him. So as you wait to have faith that what you are waiting for if it aligns with God’s will surely come to pass.

Build a relationship with God in the wait.

In seasons of waiting, God wants us to connect with Him. We should not waste) these seasons of waiting and rather we should cultivate a prayer life and personal time with God so that we can be refined and reflect Him. And even as we do so, we should realize that that is a form of preparation for the promise so that we can avoid being destroyed by the promise. An inheritance received too soon taunts and haunts one. As we spend time with God, He will equip us with the wisdom to steward the blessings He will give us well in a way that brings Him glory.

As we are waiting for God to come through, we should cultivate an intimate relationship with Him.

Learn and develop the skills needed.

Have you adequately prepared for what you are praying for? What skills do you need to learn? If it is promotion at work, Will you make time for the new responsibilities? Can you handle the pressure of the new role? God will never give you something you are not ready for. He took the Israelites through the wilderness because He wanted them to learn the skills necessary to conquer Canaan. They had to fight for their promised land and had God not taken them through the wilderness, they would not have acquired those skills. So do not waste your season of waiting. Use this time to polish up on the skills and knowledge needed for the next level.

Stay ready so that you do not have to get ready. Joseph went through a 15 year preparation period. I don’t know how long or short yours will be but serve where you are and do your best in the little you have now. Skill up by taking courses online on the same, prepare that speech, write that book, record that video. Whatever it is, just do something everyday that will get you closer to your promise. The reason is that when God finally answers your prayers you will hit the ground running.

How then one one gauge and know how close the promise is to manifesting?

When you find yourself getting tempted to give in to opportunities that you know compromise your values and are within your reach, this is a sign that your promise could be close at hand. The enemy will always fight you the hardest just before your breakthrough. Although the enemy is not omniscient and all-knowing, he has studied humanity and seasons for ages and thus he can discern when the seasons are shifting. And thus he will do everything he can to prevent you from breaking through.

Are you getting opportunities that seem off and are almost tempted to take them because you can’t see any other in sight? This could be the enemy trying to distract and confuse you so that he can delay your promise. It could be temptations that make you settle for less than what you want, whether it is a job or a business opportunity or even a relationship. If you ever find yourself saying something to the tune of at least it is this and that, just know that you are settling and it probably isn’t from God. Now don’t get me wrong, God does give us our promises in seed Form because it will require us to exercise our faith.

The point to note is that…

If the said opportunity will make you compromise on your morals and values do not engage. The compromise might seem insignificant, but remember that Galatians 5:9 says that a little leaven leavens the whole lump https://www.bibleref.com/Galatians/5/Galatians-5-9.html. Be very careful of the little foxes because they are the ones that destroy a garden. Compromise creeps in stealthily and if one is not careful, they will find that they have gone too far. And if you find yourself in such a situation, follow that still small voice. That is the Holy Spirit warning you not to take the opportunity. It might hurt for a while having to let go of something with no prospects in sight. But if you hold on, you will receive better and will be glad you waited.

the wait is worth it

God will always give you better than what you lost. He is the God of exceedingly. And every sacrifice you make because of Him, He notices. Do not grow weary in doing good. You can never out-give God, whether it is your time, resources, etc, He sees all.

Conclusion.

Whenever you find that your patience is being tested chances are, God is about to come through on your behalf. I know it feels like your waiting season will never end. But let me encourage you by saying that your waiting will come to an end.

That is something you can be sure of. Have you gone weary? Go back and look at people in the Bible who went through long seasons of waiting and what they did. Look at Abraham’s story, he waited for 25 years for the birth of his son Isaac. Can you imagine having to wait for 25 years? Steve Harvey believed in his craft when no one else did and because of his persistence, he is reaping the benefits.

Do you feel like no one recognizes your skills and craft? Just hold on, do the very best that you can. In moments when you feel like giving up, ask God for strength. Hold on to the promises spoken over your life and go back to them when you feel like you can’t. It will not always be this way. One day, your season of waiting will be over. And if you utilize your waiting season, then you will flourish in the next one. Don’t just wait, but rather, wait actively. Become the very best version of yourself that you can. And remember, it will be worth it so keep holding on.
