SCRIPTURES FOR WHEN YOU FEEL UNQUALIFIED IN GOD’S KINGDOM

Are there days you struggle in believing that God wants you in His kingdom? Do you struggle with feeling unworthy and unloved? Do you doubt whether God still wants you in His kingdom? Have you ever questioned if you belong to Jesus? If yes, then this word is for you. It’s difficult to reconcile the fact that God accepts and loves you. And especially when you mess up. So before we go any further, let me start off by telling you this truth. God loves you and wants you because you are His child and His most prized belonging. In God’s kingdom. There is room for you.

He loves you, and that is why He sent His son to die for you. You did not stumble upon Him. This can be a struggle for some, especially those who grew up in church. You might wonder if God really called and chose you or if you became a Christian by default. So to help you get rid of this false thinking, here are some Scriptures to delve into.

Scriptures to help you when you feel unqualified for God’s kingdom.

John 6:44 TPT

The only way people come to me is by the Father who sent me—he pulls on their hearts to embrace me. And those who are drawn to me, I will certainly raise them up in the last day.”

You can never know about Jesus unless God first draws you in. That you love Jesus and have received Him as your personal Lord and Savior is proof enough that God has chosen you. You are therefore not a second-class citizen, an afterthought, or a mistake. This should give you the confidence to come to God because He is your heavenly Father. And Him being your heavenly father gives you access to all the promises written in His Word and the forgiveness of sin. Every spiritual gift is yours because you are a child of God and a part of God’s kingdom.

Why would you then allow yourself to feel unqualified when it was God who called you to be a part of His kingdom? If then He is the one who called you, don’t you think He knew your shortcomings beforehand? Stop trying to qualify yourself when God already qualified you. You need not allow the lies of the enemy flood your mind and make you feel unqualified.. Jesus qualified you and that’s more than enough!

My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice! You set me up with a house and yard. And then you made me your heir!
Psalm 16:5‭-‬6 MSG

Ephesians 2:10 TPT

We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

God, before the beginning of time, created a plan for you. He established that as His child you would come to Him and have His spirit inside you. God already planned out how and when you would receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. There are people who, despite being born in a Christian home, cannot follow the truth after they become adults. But you followed Jesus even after you became an adult. This alone is proof that God chose you as His own. This is the truth and you should hold on to this even when the enemy tries to tell you otherwise. What lies has the enemy been speaking in your mind? Will you take the stand to follow what Jesus says?

Jesus predestined you and drew you in even before you knew Him. That’s how much He loves you. And not only that, He ordained it in such a way that you would follow Him. How you came to know about Him is immaterial. The fact that you know Him is all that matters. The minute you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you became a new creation. That means that the old things passed away and now it’s time to focus on the new! He has qualified you and He has given you His righteousness. Do you know Tha everything in God’s kingdom has been purchased for you and me? This means that we don’t need to earn anything, the price has been paid. The only thing left to do is for us to walk in everything Jesus paid for us to have. Just receive it.

Ephesians 1:4‭-‬6 TPT

And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence. For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace—for the same love he has for his Beloved One, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!

Isn’t it amazing to know that the same love God has for His Son Jesus, He has for you too? And that yet again, you were part of His plan all along? God never makes mistakes and so if you feel pulled to become a Christian, know it is Him who called you first. You love God because He first loved you. He will draw you until you say yes and once you do He will not let go. You are a part of God’s kingdom because God said so.

Ephesians 1:11‭, ‬13 TPT

Through our union with Christ we too have been claimed by God as his own inheritance. Before we were even born, he gave us our destiny; that we would fulfill the plan of God who always accomplishes every purpose and plan in his heart. And because of him, when you who are not Jews heard the revelation of truth, you believed in the wonderful news of salvation. Now we have been stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.

This scripture gives hope to those who are not Jews. God wanted you to hear the revelation of the truth so that you can believe in Jesus. And although salvation first started with the Jews, He has grafted you and me in the Abrahamic covenant and thus we have a right to every promise given to Abraham’s descendant. And if you are a believer in Jesus,  then this promise applies to you. You are loved, you are chosen, and you are accepted into God’s kingdom.

2 Thessalonians 2:13‭-‬14 TPT

We always have to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, for you are dearly loved by the Lord. He proved it by choosing you from the beginning for salvation through the Spirit, who set you apart for holiness, and through your belief in the truth. To this end he handpicked you for salvation through the gospel so that you would have the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God chose you from the beginning of salvation. It is that simple. Why then would you complicate it by accepting the lies of the enemy? Jesus has granted you salvation and He has freely given you His grace. Now soak in that fact and let it permeate your entire being.

1 Peter 2:9 TPT

But you are God’s chosen treasure—priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.

In this scripture, God wants you to know that you are His chosen treasure. We define a treasure as something or someone that is highly valued, loved, and regarded. So God is telling you today that He highly values you, regards you, and loves you. And just like you carefully tend and care for the things and people you love deeply, God does the same for you. He is concerned with your every move and cares about your every step and thought. And He wants you to know it that is why He has written it in the Bible. He thinks of you constantly and He knows you by name.

Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains  of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me. Psalms 139:17‭-‬18 TPT

God is constantly thinking about you because He loves you so much. He has you placed in the palm of His hand and you are engraved on His heart. How then would you allow the devil to make you think you are an afterthought? If you were one, how then would God be thinking about you constantly? And shouldn’t this be a sign that Jesus wants you to be a part of God’s kingdom?

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The fact that Jesus is the one living inside you means that you are qualified for God’s kingdom. Why would Jesus live inside you if you are not a part of His kingdom? Do not allow the enemy to lie to you. The other thing is that the minute you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He lives inside you and you live in Him. Never doubt that. “That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love.”. Jesus lives inside you. And with Him in you, you are a part of His kingdom.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[e]10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14

Ephesians 2:4-9

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

You are not the one who saved yourself and it is in your weakness that God’s strength is revealed. Therefore, you do not have to feel unqualified because Jesus is the One who qualifies you. He does not need you to be perfect. This is because your perfection and righteousness are as filthy rags to Him. The Blood of Jesus Christ is the One that cleanses you and makes you worthy of God’s kingdom. You have been saved by the Blood of Jesus. In Him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

In what way would you be a conqueror and feel like you don’t belong? This scripture shows you clearly that since God has strengthened you to be a conqueror, you are a part of His kingdom. You are no longer a slave to your sins, but a child of God. He loves you so much and that is why He predestined you before you were born. You can never come to God unless He beckons you. And Him beckoning you means that you were His to begin with. But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Your Righteousness is found in Jesus and not your deeds. Let this sink in and give you the confidence you need. There is now no condemnation. Why are you condemning yourself and feeling unworthy when God already qualified you? Picture that for a second. Jesus already qualified you. And the best part about it is He made His mind about you before you came to Him. He died for you before you allowed Him into your life. And He did this because of His love for you. This means that He knows all the mistakes you will ever make and He loves you and chose you anyway.

Take away.

God designed a plan to have you as a part of His kingdom. It was not by accident that you came to know about Him. And even when you mess up, He does not cast you out. His mercy is never-ending and His Grace is immeasurable. Do not count yourself out and live like one who does not belong. You belong to Him, and He will never let go of you. This is a word you can hold on to. God will never let you go and nothing will ever separate you from His love. Not the mountains, rivers, demons, or principalities. He chose you and you are His most prized possession. He has translated you out of the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light. You have a seat at the table and you do not earn it rather, you receive it through your union with Jesus.

Once Jesus takes a hold of you, He will never let you go. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (John 6:37)
