FULFILLMENT- HOW TO PRACTICALLY FIND IT

Most people go on with life feeling empty and unfulfilled. Even the most successful people, according to societal standards, can sometimes feel unfulfilled. Fulfillment is a state of finding peaceful happiness and feeling content. Peaceful happiness is a state of fulfillment that comes from within, and until you find contentment within, you will never be fulfilled.

Ever felt like there is better for you? Ever wondered if you will ever find lasting joy in your day-to-day life? It is possible for you. You don’t have to live your life unfulfilled. That is not how God wants you to live. After all, He came so that you can have life and have it more abundantly. Well below are some steps that one can take in the journey to find fulfillment.

  • Recognize that we are all unique in our own way
  • Find your identity in Jesus
  • Read the Bible
  • Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit
  • Do a self-analysis
  • Be patient with yourself

We are unique

Every one of us is unique in our own way. No one person is the same, and that is clear in our fingerprints. Even twins have different biometrics. This in fact, is a good thing because it gives us room to let our real we thrive. Although Moses and Aaron were brothers, they each had unique qualities that God used to get the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses was authoritative while Aaron was eloquent. God has given each one of us unique abilities. Fulfillment comes from using God-given abilities to be a solution in the world. It is time for you to embrace your uniqueness. Fulfillment

God is our fulfillment

Our fulfillment can only come from God. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, they experienced death.http://bible.us/1/gen2.17.amp. We obviously know that once they ate the fruit, they did not immediately die, and this goes to show that aside from the normal death that human beings face, there was another death experienced. This death is the loss of the relationship between man and God. The void left after Adam sinned could only be replaced by God himself. This is the reason human beings feel unfulfilled.

God being our creator, is the only one who can fulfill us. And the danger of not seeking fulfillment from God is that we end up drawing from the wrong wells. Jesus is the living water and in Him, there is fullness of Joy. Joy stems from fulfillment and contentment. And if you are lacking joy it means that you are not fulfilled. Today I want to encourage you to seek God for fulfillment. And how you do that is by fellowshiping with God.

Our identity is in Christ

The first step to finding fulfillment is accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour. It is as easy as just surrendering yourself to God and telling Jesus to take the driver’s seat of your life and allowing Him to be your Lord and Saviour.

Radiantly re-surging

Before we can be fulfilled, we need to root our identity in Christ. Shakings are normal aspects of life and for us to ensure that our foundation is secure, we need to base it on Christ. Otherwise, when the storms of life come, we will be shaken and lose our footing. Jesus gave us a parable of the two houses, one built on solid ground and the other one built on sand. And it did not shake the one built on solid ground when the storm came, but that was not the case with the one built on sand.

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Meditate on God’s Word

The Bible is an amazing book that helps us find solutions to all our problems. The more we allow ourselves to meditate on God’s word, the more we rid ourselves of our limitations. For us to experience fulfillment, we have to know what real fulfillment looks like. In the New Testament, we see that Paul was content in every season. Knowing all that Paul went through, I can’t imagine how he could find contentment. But when we inspect his life, we realize that his total surrender to God and his purpose gave him that contentment. That he was busy doing what God called him to do and his passion gave him fulfillment.

Meditating on God’s word comes from reading it consistently and being intentional about it. You can not just scheme through the word or not have the right posture. And having the right posture is simply reading the word like it is alive and active.

Develop a relationship with The Holy Spirit

Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit to be our helper when He ascended to heaven. Having established this, we know that we can trust the Holy Spirit to show us the way when we feel stuck. Whenever you felt unfulfilled, the Holy Spirit is usually the one nudging you to recognize that you can go higher and there is more for you.

The key to developing a relationship with the Holy Spirit is by spending time with Him. And this is through reading the Bible, prayer, and worship. Sometimes spending time with the Holy Spirit could mean embracing solitude and practicing stillness.

Self- Analysis

Do a self-analysis of your likes, dislikes, weaknesses, and your strengths. This exercise will help you find your purpose. When God created us, He gave every one of us a skill unique to us. For some it’s writing, for others, it’s speaking, painting, etc. Whatever it is we need to realize that all these skills come from God and we can all use even the secular skills to the glory and honor of God. and by doing we will find fulfillment. An example would be the use of art to express your feelings and emotions. We know that there are people who have used art as their source of income. What I Am getting at is that. Do not disqualify your skills and do not limit yourself by thinking that there is only one way of finding fulfillment.

Again, self-analysis requires that you embrace solitude and exercise stillness. Spend time alone so that you can hear your thoughts. Unless you do that you will never get to discover who you are.

Be patient with yourself

Be patient with yourself. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Fulfillment will not come overnight, but taking small steps toward finding it will go a long way. Finding joy and peace in your daily activity, getting from the place of just wanting to make it through the day to the place of looking forward to the next hour, day and month is the proof that we are content.

I am rooting for you. Always remember that God is with you and He wants to see you get from the place of surviving to find contentment. God did not create you to survive but to thrive and be fulfilled in every area of our lives by walking in abundance, and that is clear in John 10:10 where Jesus says that He came so we can have life and have it in abundance. That means to thrive in every area of your life. Keep thriving and find what brings you fulfillment.

Scriptures that talk about finding fulfillment in Jesus.

The Old Testament

Psalm 16:11. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore

Isaiah 58:11. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail

Psalm 17:15. As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness

Psalm 37:4. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 103:1-5. Of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

Jeremiah 31:25. For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul, I will replenish.”

Isaiah 55:1-2 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

The new Testament

1 Timothy 6:6. Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,

John 6:32-40 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

John 6: 35-38. 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me

John 6: 39-40 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Philippians 4:11-13. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance, and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Conclusion.

Fulfillment is something that God wants you to experience. That is why He sent Jesus to die on the cross and redeem us. You know the woman at the well, found fulfillment in Jesus. It was when she willingly opened up to Him and let Him in that she was fulfilled. The same is possible for you. There is no need for you to go looking for fulfillment from the world. Nothing will ever satisfy you like Jesus will. And until you find fulfillment in Jesus you will have an identity crisis. And this will open up a can of worms like people-pleasing, seeking validation from people, and even peer pressure.

The good news I have for you today is that Jesus is knocking at the door. He will leave the 99 for you. And He wants to introduce you to the person He created you to be. Not only that, He wants to restore your identity.

with love,
