4 Keys To Living The Blessed Life As A Godly Sophisticated Woman.

Estimated reading time: 12 minutes

Genesis 12:1-3 is a commonly referenced scripture in the Christian community. And as a godly sophisticated woman, I believe you would love to partake in the same. After all, who wouldn’t want to leave a lasting impact on earth? And often we focus on the promise and ignore the instructions. It’s no secret that God’s promises are always tied to obedience to the instructions given. This brings me to today’s focus, and that is the key to living the blessed life. Let’s look at the scripture and then bring it into context.

The perfect scripture for the start of living the blessed life.

Now [in Haran] the Lord had said to Abram, โ€œGo away from your country, And from your relatives And from your fatherโ€™s house, To the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you [abundantly], And make your name great (exalted, distinguished); And you shall be a blessing [a source of great good to others];

And I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you, And I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you. And in you, all the families (nations) of the earth will be blessed.โ€ So Abram departed [in faithful obedience] as the Lord had directed him, and Lot [his nephew] left with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. Genesis 12:1โ€ญ-โ€ฌ4 AMP

God gave Abraham a promise to bless him, but He told him that he would have to leave his comfort zone. And in verse 4 we see that Abraham obeyed. Today we know Abraham as the father of the Jewish community and also the father of Faith. So what led him to this point? What did he do to receive this blessing? How did Abraham position himself to live a blessed life and how can you?

What are the keys to living the blessed life?

There was a way that Abraham postured himself to live a blessed life by receiving the blessings God had for him. And today I want us to look at the keys so that we can be ready for a partnership with God.

Being receptive is one of the secrets to living a blessed life.

We should be open to hearing from God. The truth is that He is always speaking, the question however is are we listening? As a godly sophisticated woman, you need to practise a habit of being in tune with the Holy Spirit. Are you postured in a way that God can speak to you? Do you even know his voice and can you recognize when He speaks? We often complicate Christianity by having all these formulas for having a relationship with God. But it all boils down to being open. Having a heart open to hearing God is one key to living the blessed life. So maybe you are wondering how you can open yourself up to hearing from Him.

Ways that increase your spiritual senses as a godly sophisticated woman.

Daily repentance

Sin is what separates us from God and prevents us from having a relationship with God. So naturally, when we are in the right standing we know that our fellowship with God will be strengthened.

That’s why Jesus came to earth in the first place. He came to reconcile us with God and restore our fellowship with Him. He shed His blood so that we can be cleansed of all our sins and the handwriting of requirements can be completely wiped out. The shed blood of Jesus justifies us and revives our spirit thus enhancing our spiritual senses to hear God.

The way you can experience all this is by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. And the process is not difficult, it’s just a matter of deciding. When you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and confess with your mouth, you will be saved. That’s a promise given to you by Jesus.

By doing so you give Him the legal right to forgive your sins and make you a new being. So if you are not saved, decide today that you will make that decision. Congratulations on making the most important decision in your life and know that heaven is celebrating with you. As a believer, you give room for Jesus to live inside you, awaken your spiritual senses, and retire your fellowship with God.

What is repentance?

Repentance is simply turning from sin and allowing God’s ways to rule you. Jesus wants you to position yourself to live a blessed life. He already paid the price anyway, so you only need to receive and position yourself to receive His forgiveness. God does not want you to stay stuck in shame and guilt. Once you recognize that you have sinned, just ask God to forgive you and then turn from your sinful ways. The Blood of Jesus gives God the legal right to forgive you when you repent.

Once you have repented, do not continue doing the same thing you were doing. Because again, God is not mocked, for what you sow is what you reap. His blessings are found under the shadow of His wings and the key is being in right standing with Him. While it is true that it is the righteousness of Jesus that gives us the right standing with God, there are consequences for our actions. And also, loving Jesus means following His commandments. Abraham’s relationship with God positioned him for a blessed life. It worked for him and it will work for you.

Believe.

For you to know when God is speaking to you, you have to first believe that He is speaking. How will God speak to you if you do not even believe that He does? And how will you even know it is Him if you don’t believe? The only way you can access the spiritual realm is through faith and faith alone. So decide to have faith that God speaks to you and you will be open to hearing Him.

After all, you only empower what you focus on and Faith pleases God and opens your heart to hear from Him. It is easy to disregard the voice of God when you don’t believe. Let me ask you this, have you had moments where a thought came to you out of nowhere that was a solution to a problem you were experiencing? News flash, that was God speaking to you.

God often times speak through thoughts impressed in our spirit. Yes at times He might speak in a thunderous voice, but often times it is that still small voice in your spirit.

As you can see from the scripture above, God is always speaking and He even speaks in the night too. But it will take you being sensitive to hear His voice.

Spend time with God.

Spend time with God. Setting aside quality time to spend with God is the key to hearing Him, therefore, believing Him. Abraham set time aside to spend with God. Because of this, he did not miss his moment of visitation. He was already positioned for a blessed life before he received the blessings. And all this came because he spent time with God. The more time you spend with God, the more you get to know more about Him and the more you build your faith in Him.

Reading the word

The only way you can truly know when God is speaking is by reading the Bible. How will you know His voice if you are not familiar with his character and His voice? And how will you know it if you don’t read the Bible? The Bible contains the blueprint of who God is, His character, and His nature. And by knowing this you can easily know when He is speaking and be open to hearing what He has to say. It’s easy to trust God’s voice when you are familiar with His nature and character. So if you want to be open to hearing God speak to you, you will need to cultivate a habit of reading the Bible daily.

The Bible reveals to us God’s nature and character. As you read the Bible, you will distinguish between God’s voice and other voices. This will increase your sensitivity to hearing Him speak and therefore know when He is leading you.

Reading the Bible will familiarize you with the nature and character of God which is essential to your openness to hearing Him speak.

Prayer and worship

Prayer increases our sensitivity to hearing God. This is because it turns our focus to Him thus eliminating all the distractions that can hinder us from hearing God speak to us. Worship also focuses on God, therefore, creating an atmosphere where He can communicate with us. Worship also helps us to focus on God. The more we focus on Him, the more His presence overwhelms us. And wherever God’s presence is, there His goodness is too. God inhabits the praises of His people.

Let go if you want to live the blessed life

We are always moving from glory to glory. When God wants to take you to a higher level, He will require you to let go of something. After all, nothing can be added to your plate when it is full already. Has God been asking you to let go of some things?

Maybe it’s your mindset or character traits. Or like Abraham, maybe God is asking you to leave your comfort zone and step into the unknown. Or maybe God is asking you to let go of the past, trauma, and pain. What is God asking you to release? And are you willing to do so? Baggage will hinder us from walking in our promises, so if God is asking you to let go of something, it’s because He wants to take you higher.

Granted, letting go will not be an easy process. After all, we are human beings and change does not come naturally to us. But when you do, you make room for what God wants to bring to your life. Could it be that your fear of letting go is holding you back from receiving what God has promised you?

Things that God may ask you to let go of.

  • Career- There are times when God will ask you to let go of a career you hold dear because He has something better for you. It is going to require you to let go of what you have now to receive better. Peter was a fisherman, but for him to step into the blessed life that Jesus had for him, he had to let go of the familiar and step into the new. Peter had to let go of what was familiar to him to embrace the new which was being a fisher of men.
  • Relationships- sometimes some relationships are holding you back. Could God be asking you to let go of a relationship because He has something better for you?
  • Environment- Abraham’s blessings were on the other side of him letting go. He had to leave all that he knew and trust God for the new. Could it be that your blessed life is on the other side of your letting go? God can never ask you to let go of something unless He has better for you.
  • Mindset- An entire generation of the Israelites except for Caleb and Joshua failed to step into Canaan. This was because they were not willing to embrace the new mindset that God had for them. They wandered in the wilderness for 40 years until an entire generation died. Fear could be holding you back from the blessed life God has for you. The truth of the matter is that, when God calls you to something, He equips you for it.

Let go to make room for the new.

Trust God.

Your blessings will require you to partner with God. And the only way you can partner with Him is by first trusting Him. Do you trust God loves you and has great intentions for you? Do you trust that the path that God is leading you will not lead to your destruction? Do you trust that God is good? Can you trust God even when He is taking you down a path you don’t understand?

For instance, Joseph had to step out in faith and ask Pharaoh to tell him about the dream so that he could interpret it. He had to trust that God would give him the interpretation and because he trusted God, God came through for him. He went from being a prisoner to being 2nd in command. This was because He trusted God.

One key to learning to trust God is receiving a revelation of His love for you and heart towards you. Trust comes when you know someone’s heart. And through reading the Bible and fellowship with God you will learn to trust Him. Although it might be difficult asking Him to help you will go a long way. His word tells us He can be trusted.

Obedience is another secret to living the blessed life.

One of the ways God gauges if we are ready for the blessings is by our ability to obey when He asks it of us. Before any blessing, there is always an instruction laid out, and it’s going to take you walking in obedience to the instruction for you to receive the blessing.

Have you noticed that throughout the Bible every time God gave a promise He asked someone to do something first? Joseph, David, and Zechariah all had instructions tied to their promise. And when they completed the task assigned to them they received their blessing. Your breakthrough is on the other side of your obedience. Are you willing to follow what God is saying? Remember, when you are faithful, God will show Himself faithful.

When you are faithful, God will show Himself faithful.

Conclusion

God wants to bless you. The same thing He said to Abraham He is saying to you too today. But for you to experience the blessings, you will have some instructions laid out. Will you obey? Will you be open to hearing him? Are you ready to let go of your comfort zone and try the new thing He is asking you to?

God wants to take you to greater heights, but you have a role to play. Are you ready and willing?
