It Is Time For Your Dry Bones To live again!

Do you have dry bones in your life that you need to live again? Have there been areas that look so hopeless and you wish they could only live again? Maybe it is a broken relationship that seems beyond repair. Or maybe it is something you have been pursuing for so many years, to no avail. Whatever it is that you want to live again can because God is the God of the impossible.

. But even as we tell the dry bones to live again, let’s look at someone from the Bible who experienced that. After all, we need to ensure that what we are praying for is aligned with God’s Word. If you can see it in the Word, you can have it. And to do so, we will look at the story of Ezekiel and how God asked him to command the dry bones to live again. Pretty cool, right?

Anyway, let’s look at the story of Ezekiel and how he commanded dry bones to live again.

I can only imagine how awestruck Ezekiel must have been when the dry bones started rattling and the flesh formed. Pause… I have gone ahead of myself. In Ezekiel 37:1-14, The Spirit of God took Ezekiel to the valley that was full of dry bones that had been bleached by the sun.

God grabbed me. God’s Spirit took me up and set me down in the middle of an open plain strewn with bones. He led me around and among them—a lot of bones! There were bones all over the plain—dry bones, bleached by the sun.
Ezekiel 37:1‭-‬2 MSG

He then asked him if he thought the dry bones could live again. Ezekiel answered by saying that only God had the answer to that. He did not even pretend to have an answer and was okay with the fact that he didn’t.

He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Master God, only you know that.”
Ezekiel 37:3 MSG

Anyway, God instructed him to command the dry bones to live again.

He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones: ‘Dry bones, listen to the Message of God!’”
Ezekiel 37:4 MSG

When he did, he saw the bones come together, flesh form, and bodies form.

God, the Master, told the dry bones, “Watch this: I’m bringing the breath of life to you and you’ll come to life. I’ll attach sinews to you, put meat on your bones, cover you with skin, and breathe life into you. You’ll come alive and you’ll realize that I am God!”
Ezekiel 37:5‭-‬6 MSG

Once that was complete, he still had to command the breath from all four corners of the earth to form and by so doing the bodies came alive, and suddenly an army arose. The dry bones represented the Israelites and how God would once more get them back to their land. At the time, it looked impossible as they were in exile but God.

I prophesied just as I’d been commanded. As I prophesied, there was a sound and, oh, rustling! The bones moved and came together, bone to bone. I kept watching. Sinews formed, then muscles on the bones, then skin stretched over them. But they had no breath in them. He said to me, “Prophecy to the breath.

Prophesy, son of man. Tell the breath, ‘God, the Master, says, Come from the four winds. Come, breath. Breathe on these slain bodies. Breathe life!’” So I prophesied, just as he commanded me. The breath entered them and they came alive! They stood up on their feet, a huge army. Then God said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.

Listen to what they’re saying: ‘Our bones are dried up, our hope is gone, there’s nothing left of us.’ “Therefore, prophesy. Tell them, ‘God, the Master, says: I’ll dig up your graves and bring you out alive—O my people! Then I’ll take you straight to the land of Israel. When I dig up graves and bring you out as my people, you’ll realize that I am God. I’ll breathe my life into you and you’ll live. Then I’ll lead you straight back to your land and you’ll realize that I am God. I’ve said it and I’ll do it. God’s Decree.’”
Ezekiel 37:7‭-‬14 MSG

Application of Ezekiel 37 in your life

Can you relate? Do you have situations in your life that seem hopeless? Have you hit a dead wall and don’t know what to do? God is asking you the same thing He asked Ezekiel, can these dry bones live again? I think sometimes we read the Bible like one would a novel and that is wrong. God gave us the Bible as a blueprint for our lives, and every story in the Bible applies to you and me in one way or another. So how can we experience the miracle experienced by Ezekiel?

We serve The God of restoration. Nothing is impossible for Him, and as long as you trust Him with your dry bones, He will bring them back to life. It is one thing to trust in God when there is a flicker of hope and a whole other thing to trust Him in a hopeless situation.

Maybe you are in a hopeless situation right now. It could be that you have prayed for so long and have not experienced a breakthrough. Or it could be that your situation does not even have breath. It has been dead for so long that all you can see are dry bones with no skin on them. Do you know that regardless of how bad a situation is, God has the power to resurrect it? Do you know God can restore anything regardless of how bleak it looks? Maybe you doubt that God could do it or you. So to encourage you, let me give you examples from the Bible of people whose dry bones lived.

Examples whose dry bones lived again.

  1. Sarah had been barren for years. But God restored her womb, and she gave birth to a son at 90 years. Can you imagine that. The same woman who had given up hope conceived and bore a son at 90 years?
  2. If that does not ignite your faith, look at Joseph. God gave Joseph a dream that his brothers and father would bow to him. Shortly after that, his brothers sold him into slavery. And the dream God gave him seemed dead. But in God’s timing, God fulfilled the dream. And this was 10+ years later.
  3. When the Israelites were in bondage in Egypt, they thought God had forgotten them. Mind you, they had been slaves for 400+ years. So it did not look like their situation would ever change. But God in His timing delivered them through Moses.
  4. Elizabeth had been counted out as a mother. I don’t think anyone thought she would ever become a mother. But she did and in fact, became the mother of John the Baptist, who heralded the way for Jesus Christ- our Messiah.
  5. The woman with the issue of blood had been sick for 12 years. People did not even identify her by her name but by her condition. They never thought she would get well. In fact, the Bible tells us that she had tried everything to get well but had not. Yet God again came through and she was healed and made whole. God redeemed her and gave her a new identity. No longer was she called the woman with the issue of blood. Jesus called her daughter

These are just examples of people who received restoration of things that seemed impossible. You might not be going through the same thing. But today I want you to know that God is Sovereign and has power over everything. If He can calm the storm, multiply food, heal the sick and raise the dead, there is nothing He can’t do. You only need to believe.

If like Ezekiel, you want to see dry bones live again, let’s look at some of the things we can and from him.

Lessons from Ezekiel’s vision.

He knew God’s voice and heeded it.

Ezekiel knew God’s voice. He could differentiate between his own voice and God’s voice. You can only know someone’s voice when you spend quality time with them. Because of Ezekiel’s relationship with God, he could discern when God was talking to him thus the encounters. God wants to change your situation. And He wants to speak to you about how you can change your situation. He has solutions and strategies ready for you. But you have to spend quality time with him so that you can hear him when He speaks and know what He is saying.

Ways you can increase your sensitivity to hear God.

  1. Intentionally spend time with God. Setting time aside to intentionally commune with God will help you discern when He is speaking. You can not just squeeze Him into your day. Plan for it. Set uninterrupted time to hear Him. As you do so, your flesh will weaken and your spirit will come alive. Because God is spirit, the more your spirit comes alive, the more you will be able to know His voice.
  2. Silence the noise. God will oftentimes speak in a still, small voice. This means that for you to hear Him, you will need to silence all other noises. This comes from a place of stillness. Stillness needs you to become aware of your soul and it needs solitude. Sometimes you just have to take a break from everything. You don’t need to leave your home. You can just switch off all distractions, lock yourself in a room and just stay still. Initially, all the junk in your soul will scream loudly at you. But as you Adress your soul and give room for your spirit to speak, you will gain clarity and make room for God to speak to you too. God is always speaking, but you can only hear Him in the stillness.
  3. Read the Bible. The Holy Spirit reveals to us what God is saying. And He does so by revealing and reminding us of the word of God. But for Him to remind us of God’s word, we have to read it first. That’s why it is important to read God’s word.
  4. Praise and worship. Every time you take time to worship and pray to God, you silence the flesh and focus ON Him. And as you do so, you give Him to speak to you. God wants to talk to you.

Therefore

Just like Ezekiel, God wants to give you strategies that will help you. He tells us He works everything out for our good. But there has to be a partnership. Ezekiel had a role to play in the miracle. God needed Him to speak out His will on earth for it to come forth.

Whatever the turnaround, God has decrees and instructions that He wants to give you so that you can speak them out and watch your situations shift for the better and dead things to live again. Whatever you focus on you empower and life and death are in the tongue’s power. You cannot know God’s will unless you spend time with Him and know His voice and His heart. Otherwise, you will speak your own will or worse.

Obedience

Just because you heard from God doesn’t mean everything is done. You have a role to play. Whatever the instruction, follow through with it. God will never give you a new word until you act on the last word he gave you. Could you be the one holding yourself back? Have you done what God asked you to do? We know how important obedience is to God. Saul lost his leadership because of disobedience. Samuel even told Saul how obedience is better than sacrifice. http://bible.us/1/1sa15.22.amp

Ezekiel had to obey every instruction n that God gave him before God gave him the next. And that is how God operates. If you cannot do what He is telling you to do now, how will you get to do the next? Your obedience now is tied to your breakthrough. As you saw With Ezekiel’s story, every step was tied to the previous one. So what do you have to do to get your miracle? It is not over until God says so. So as long as God has not told you to stop, you can keep pressing and see the shift in your life. God doesn’t want your situation to remain hopeless. He wants to see you win in life and see you through the mess until it is reversed.

Conclusion.

God wants you to experience breakthroughs. He wants to breathe life into every dead area in your life. He wants you to partner with Him to experience that resurrection. There is no need for you to stay stuck in dead situations. He has so much for you. He wants to ignite your faith and hope and heal you from hope deferred. Yes, this situation has been going on for far too long, but it is time for the resurrection power of God to come forth in your life. Will you trust Him to resurrect those areas? Tell your dry bones to live again.
