JESUS HAS NOT DISQUALIFIED YOU
Redemption,  Spiritual growth in the wilderness and waiting season

JESUS WILL NEVER DISQUALIFY YOU

Today, I want you to know and keep in mind that God will never disqualify you. Why? First off, God is all-knowing and thus, He already knows all your weaknesses. Him seeking you out is despite your mistakes. He does not expect you to be perfect, and that is okay. Why would you put all these unnecessary, very unachievable expectations on yourself then?

The reason Jesus will never disqualify you is because He loves you so much and He made provisions for your sin. He knew you are not perfect that is why He cam on earth to at the price for your redemption. Why then would He disqualify you?

What makes you think you should be perfect?

Why do you think you need to be perfect? Why do you cancel yourself out when you make a mistake?

Bad theology.

Often in the Christian circle, people tell us of perfection as if it is attainable. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about intentionally sinning. All I am saying is, perfection is unattainable. And that is okay. The sooner you realize that the easier your life gets. The only person who lived a sinless life on earth was Jesus because He is perfect. But you and I are not. We are flawed and because of the sin committed by Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, we are genetically wired to sin. Why would God ask you for perfection then? God never told you to be perfect. He tells you to rely on Him. He knows as a human you will fall short and that is why He set out a plan to have you and me redeemed. It is time for you and me to realize that and come to terms with it. Don’t allow others to put unrealistic expectations on you when you mess up. But also don’t intentionally sin.

God wants to help you avoid temptations. He wants to guide you in the way you should go. He even says that He will tell you the very specific path you should use and will warn you when the devil lays a trap. Relying on God is the only way you will be able to live a righteous life. It is through relationship with the Holy Spirit that you will be righteous and also never forget that Jesus gave us His righteousness not yours. Stop striving for perfection, instead rest in your relationship with Jesus. He will sustain you and help you in your Cristian life. You might be wondering how He will do that.

  • Through the conviction of the Holy Spirit -Everytime you sense a word from your inner witness it is the Holy Spirit that is leading you.
  • The Bible-Jesus will sustain you and show you the way when you read your BIBLE. In ther, you will find direction and guidance. And when the word is etched inside you, the Holy Spirit will bring it up when you need it.

Cancel Culture

Because of the increase of the cancel culture, you might feel the need to disqualify yourself before someone else does as some way to stay in control. Making mistakes is part of being human and extending grace to others should be the way of life. Have you had people cancel you because of something you did? It might not have been on a grand scale, but maybe your family has canceled you because your life did not go as planned. Maybe you had a child out of wedlock. Or maybe you did not go down the expected career path. Maybe you don’t have the job they thought you should have. Or maybe you did something that was so unlike you they have distanced themselves from you. Either way, this could make you view God on that same filter causing you to think that God is the same way. Fortunately for you, God does not cancel you when you err. He gives second and third chances too.

If God canceled people out;

  • The Israelites would have been destroyed because of their rebellion and sin. When the Israelites worshipped idols, God had mercy on them and He did not give them the punishment they deserved.
  • God did not disqualify Abraham after he had Ishmael. His Ishmael mistake did not disqualify him from his Isaac promise.
  • When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, God did not give them the punishment they deserved, which was death. Instead, He had mercy on them and gave them a less punishment which was the death of their first son. God however redeemed and gave them Solomon who in fact, became king after his father.
  • God redeemed the tribe of Judah even after Judah committed incest with his daughter in law. The tribe of Judah is the lineage of Jesus.
  • God redeemed Peter after he denied him. Peter in fact was the one who spoke and led 3000 people to believe in Jesus.

These are just a few examples of how God gives chance after chance to people and does not disqualify them. You are in good company if you feel like you have messed up. You can never be too far gone that you cannot be redeemed. Jesus never came to redeem the perfect ones, He came for the broken people, those who are hurting and the lost. Jesus always has time for you who is broken and feeling unqualified. He wants you to know that He forgives and restores too.

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18 โ€œThe Spirit of the Lord is on me,  because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19     to proclaim the year of the Lordโ€™s favor.โ€ 20 Then, he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, โ€œToday this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.โ€ http://bible.us/1/luk4.15,16,17,18,19,20,21.niv11

How then do you prevent from feeling disqualified?

Trust that God is not a liar.

Instead of believing what people think, why don’t you believe what God says about you? He says that once you are saved, you have become a child of God. Why would He disqualify you when you are His child and His possession. He also says where sin increased His grace increased even more. Why would there be grace if you were destined to be perfect? Jesus came so that you can be reconciled to Him. You are not perfect and you never will. So instead of focusing on your shortcomings, focus on who God says you are.

Perfection will only frustrate you and lead to donw a rabbit hole full of shame, guilt and condemnation. You see anytime you fall short you will feel bad because of the immense pressure you have placed on yourself. This will cause you to run away fro God instead of running towards Him. God called David a man after his own heart yet David was not perfect. Do you know why God called him that? I believe it is because David having learned that he was not perfect knew how to go ack to God everytime he went astray.

For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity. http://bible.us/1/pro24.16.nkjv

Stop disqualifying yourself when God has not. Instead, get up and keep it pushing. God does not want you to stay stuck in your mistakes. Get up son or daughter, repent and move forward.

Extend grace to yourself.

Jesus does not want you to live in shame, guilt, and condemnation. He wants you to experience the freedom He so paid a dear price for. He says that He does not condemn you and you should believe that. Being critical of yourself will not help. How long will you condemn what God has blessed? Yes you messed up, and that was wrong. But let me ask you this, why would you stay stuck when God already said you are not condemned because you are in Christ Jesus? Why are you holding on to the shame of your sin? Why not let go and allow the grace of God to flood you. His grace is available to you too and for you to extend grace to yourself you need to first receive it. Receiving His grace comes from the realization that He gave it to you because He loves you. The only way you will stop disqualifying yourself is when you realize that He paid the price for your imperfection and His righteousness covers your flaws. It is through the blood of Jesus that you are able o receive grace and mercy and not through your hard work.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For in Christ Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. https://biblehub.com/romans/8-1.htm

Extend grace to others.

If you want to live a life where you don’t condemn yourself, you have to also stop condemning others. The same measure you give to others is the same that will be poured out for you. Do you want people to extend grace to you when you make mistakes? Then do the same for others. It is time for you and me to stop being critical of others and recognize that they are human beings and so are you. This implies that they will make mistakes and that is okay too. The oky way you can extend grace to others is by recognizing that they are human too. They too are prone to making mistakes. Having this in mind will help you extend grace. Also avoid placing unrealistic expectation on others. Just because someone is in the pulpit does not mean that they are free from sin. Paul himself said that he found himself doing things he did not want to do and in another chapter said that he prayed in tongues more than anyone else. If that’s the case, then what makes you think someone else is exempted from error?

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy Mathew 5:7

Do unto others what you want to be done to you.

Read the Bible.

The only way you will receive the revelation that God will never disqualify you is by taking time to read His word. The Bible contains numerous scriptures that talk about God giving people chance after chance. Knowing this will help you stop condemning yourself. The only thing that would make you disqualify yourself is believing a lie. And the only way to get rid of the lie is by replacing it with the truth. This only comes from reading the word. The word of God gives you the truth and this truth sets you free. So if you want to experience freedom in the knowledge that you are not disqualified, delve into the word of God.

Ask the Holy Spirit for help.

The Holy Spirit will always bring into your remembrance the truth you need at the moment. So whenever you feel like you have gone too far for redemption, ask Him to reveal scripture that tells you the truth and He will. If you feel unforgiven, He will show you that you have been forgiven. If you feel like you can never measure up, He will tell you that you are enough in Jesus.

โ€œBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before Him in love; He predestined us to adoption as sons to Himself through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace which He graciously bestowed on us in the Belovedโ€ (Eph. 1:3-6).

Conclusion

The Holy Spirit wants you to know that although you are not perfect, God still calls you His child. And you are a royal priesthood and a co-heir with Jesus. God loves you even in your brokenness. When He looks at you He sees who He created you to be. He does not focus on your shortcomings. Now that He does not stop doing it and give yourself room to grow. Perfection will come once you are glorified and that will happen when you leave this earth. In the meantime, recognize that you will go through sanctification and this means that you will mess up now and then. But even the mess-ups are part of your story of refining and glorification.

God is not done with you yet. He has a beautiful destination for you. He will use your mistakes for His glory. Your story will get someone out of their path to destruction and get them to the right path. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Focus on the truth that God will never disqualify you and He will use the broken areas of your life. Stop focusing on the destination and instead celebrate the times you do the right thing. When you mess up, dust yourself up, repent and keep it pushing. Don’t allow the enemy to get you stuck in shame. You are loved and valuable and you have a story to tell. The same God who began a good work in you will bring it to perfection.
