5 Keys To Help You Recover Treasure In The Dirt

Has God been calling you into an unfamiliar path? A path you never envisioned for yourself? Has God been nudging you to walk with Him on a journey where you get to see treasure in the dirt? Then I have a very beautiful word of encouragement for you. Today as I was spending time with God, I had a revelation. I was asking God for an answer regarding a particular situation in my life that has been frustrating me for a while now. You see, regardless of the prayers and fasting it always seems like the situation never changes. And I was at a point of frustration. Let me give you an example that will bring this home for you.

So let’s say you have been praying to get a particular job because you have received enough confirmations from God that that job is yours. Yet it always seems like the company ends up picking someone else each time. And it does nit matter how much they think you are the tight candidate, the fact that you don’t match the spec that society expects them to pick, they end up with the one that looks the part  And you end up experiencing hope deferred time and time again. And you find yourself questioning the entire situation.

Or another example would be going into a field or industry that is not considered successful or one that is frowned upon simply because God told you. And having people view you a certain way because you chose a path that looks foolish to the world. Because of this you find yourself questioning whether you are on the right track. The last example is being with someone who doesn’t match you or your peoples spec simply because you heard a word from God. Can you relate?

Having to constantly deal with the doubt and fear that come with taking the road less traveled is not an easy thing to do. You see, its one thing to believe the word when the reality matches the word. But what happens when your world seems to be fighting the very word you heard in the secret place? How do you handle the disappointment that comes when you know you received a promise from God yet nothing seems to be materializing?

Today I want to share some of the keys that God gave me that will help you stand even when it seems like all odds are against you.

Keys that will help you see, believe and continue seeking for the treasure in the dirt

  1. Ask God to open your spiritual senses so you can discern the treasure in the dirt.

When the word tells us that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, He means it. Often times His path does not make sense. Think with me for a second, Can you imagine God telling you that you are highly favored only for you to experience ridicule for carrying the Messiah? What about God telling you that you would be a father of nations only for you yo end up childless for 20 plus years?

How do you hope for something when the only thing you are experiencing is delay and stagnation? You ask God to open your spiritual eyes. When the king sent an army to kill Elisha his servant was afraid. Elisha tried to console his servant by telling him not to worry because the had an army by their side. The servant struggled to believe. So much so that Elisha petitioned to God for his spiritual eyes to be opened. And immediately that happened and he saw an army of angels, his fears subsided.

This is something God is capable of doing even today. If you can see it in the word, you can have it in your world. If regardless of how much you distract yourself and try to use logic, the word does not seem to leave, just ask God to open your spiritual eyes. This will help you see things His way. Finding treasure in the dirt requires that you shift your perspective and quit having the status quo mindset. You will need to come up higher.

Remember the Bible tells us that all we need to do is ask and we shall receive. And again God already knows that you are struggling to believe that this will come to be. Therefore He will want to help you see things His way. And we even see Paul praying that God would open the eyes of our understanding. We know that praying His word back to Him works. I therefore want to encourage you to ask God to open your eyes so that you can see the treasure in the dirt that He has for you. I want you to remember that you have a God who is fir you and wants to partner with you to see you win. He gets it. Don’t be afraid.

  1. Ask God for a word

There are moments when you will need a word from God to keep you going in your pursuit of treasure in the dirt. Think about Jairus for a moment. He had seen the woman with the issue of blood healed and redeemed. Yet his heart broke when he found out that his daughter had died. It took a word from Jesus to revive his faith. It does not matter if your eyes are opened sometimes in the midst of the weariness, you will need a word to encourage you to continue hoping and pursuing treasure in the dirt.

In Genesis 12, the Lord promised Abraham that he would make him a father of nations. After he and Lot separated, the Lord appeared to him yet again and told him that his lineage will be uncountable just like the sand in the sea. But we see God appear to Abraham yet again to give him a word that stirred his faith. And this time He specifically told him that he ( Abraham) would have a son through Sarah.

You see even Abraham the father of faith needed a word of encouragement from God. Therefore I encourage you to ask for a word from God. Again, I want to remind you that God is for you and ready to listen. Remember Gideon? God encouraged Gideon every step of the way until he defeated the Midianites with 300 men. In fact, the night before the fight, he had Gideon overhear a conversation amongst the Midianites that solidified his victory.

Judges 7:9-15 NLT

That night the Lord said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them!. But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah.  Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.” So Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp. The armies of Midian, Amalek, and the people of the east had settled in the valley like a swarm of locusts.

Their camels were like grains of sand on the seashore—too many to count! .Gideon crept up just as a man was telling his companion about a dream. The man said, “I had this dream, and in my dream a loaf of barley bread came tumbling down into the Midianite camp. It hit a tent, turned it over, and knocked it flat!” .His companion answered, “Your dream can mean only one thing—God has given Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite, victory over Midian and all its allies!”. When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship before the Lord. Then he returned to the Israelite camp and shouted, “Get up! For the Lord has given you victory over the Midianite hordes!”

  1. Expect opposition as you pursue your treasure in the dirt.

The Bible reminds us that God’s word will be tried. And there will betimes when before God can take you to your wealthy place, you will have to go through the fire. Before God delivered the Israelite from the Egyptians, things got worse. It was after that, that victory came. I want you to always remember that this war is between 2 kingdoms. And the kingdom of darkness will always resist God’s agenda.

Because of this, you will go through a season where it seems like God’s word was your own imagination. Maybe at year 20 Abraham had given up hope of ever having a child through Sarah. Maybe he had conditioned himself to live through the pain. What he did not realize was that God’s plan was still in motion. God was waiting for his perfect timing to bring it to pass. And considering that Rebekah was the one God had for him, it shows you why the delay was necessary. Have you ever heard of the term a destined delay? Isaac was 40 years when he got married, Rebekah was less than 20 years. Imagine if Isaac had been born earlier? Would Isaac have had the capacity to wait for that long?

Even the warfare that comes with the delay is divinely orchestrated. Remember God is Sovereign. Therefore He knows the end from the beginning. And He was always aware of the delay, the warfare and the opposition.

Sometimes the warfare will come through the endless doubts and unbelief in your mind. And maybe because of past experiences you can struggle to believe that God will do what He has spoken. But I want you to recognize that the enemy will always send counterfeit situation right before the promise. And this is not just to serve as distraction, sometimes it is to kill your confidence causing you to forfeit the promise.

Moses had a knowing that he was called to deliver the Israelites and even went ahead to try doing it his way .  Unfortunately because it was outside of God’s timing and he was using his strategy, he failed miserably. No wonder 40 years later when God gave him the same assignment, he struggled to accept it. His heart was sick because of his past experiences. If you can relate, I want to encourage you to ask God to heal your heart so you can believe again. God will use the area of your greatest pain to heal you expectation and perception of Him. Your treasure in the dirt journey is meant to heal you from past experiences, traumas and shift your mindsets.

  1. Ask God for His strategy and blueprint.

When Moses tried to deliver the Israelites using his strategy, he failed miserably. Remember that God was the one who gave you the vision of the treasure in the dirt. Why would He allow you to get in on it blind? Why would you assume that God wants you to try and figure it out on your own?

Child of God, we serve a God who gives an assignment with a strategy in mind.  When Elijah prophesied a 3 and a half year famine, God commanded a raven to feed him and provided a Brook to quench his thirst. And when the Brook dried up, he instructed a widow to feed him.

The same happened to the Shunamite woman. During the 7 year famine, she sought refuge in Egypt. And when it was time to go back home, the Lord positioned Gehazi to speak to the king about her. You see beloved, there are  no coincidences with God. Today I want you to recognize the God who has called you for it has not only empowered you but also has a blueprint that will guarantee its success.

Again its as simple as just asking. Remember in Jeremiah 33:3, the Bible reminds us that when we call unto God, He will answer. Its His assignment, allow Him to direct your steps. Seek His way and He will lead you until you get to your promised land. There was no way the Israelites would hv defeated the people living in Jericho had they not followed the Lords strategy. His strategy works. It might be unorthodox, peculiar and odd. But the truth is that it works.

Can you imagine all it took for the prophets widow to get the funds needed to pay his debt was tomorrow vessel’s and pour oil from the same jar of oil she had? Who would have thought that,, that would be her source of wealth?

  1. Ask God to reveal to you the season you are in so you can know how to position yourself in your pursuit of treasure in the dirt.

Could it be that the reason you are yet to see its manifestation is because the time is not yet right? After all, God’s word says that He makes things beautiful in His time. God blessed Abraham with a child at the right time. He elevated Joseph to a place of authority at the ordained time. He will do the same for you too.

Ask Him for discernment so you can perceive what you need to do. The Holy Spirit as your helper wants to help you discern the times and seasons so you can rightly position yourself and be in His perfect will. The Sons of Issachar had that ability. The same God who gave them that ability can give it to you too. Remember gold miners after discovering gold in a place have to dig to a certain level before they can get the gold.

When the timing is off it will look like God is a liar. But in His time, you will surely see that treasure in the dirt.  THE GODLY SOPHISTICATED WOMAN’S GUIDE TO OVERCOMING DOUBT AND FEAR.(Opens in a new browser tab)
