Let’s finally put this matter to rest. Maybe you’ve had this dream you feel could be from God but are not sure. It could be a business that you have been pursuing for a while or it could be an idea that you have been toying with for a while.

Whatever the case may be, I want us to finally put to rest this question you have had for a while now. So if you have been asking for clarity, then here is your answer. And today I will give you 5 keys that will help you finally know without a shadow of a doubt that the dream came from God.

5 Keys that your desire or dream is from God.

Promise or unction from within.

The first key is always a promise from God. Now this will look different for each one of us. And just to give you an idea, you could have a dream of God telling you to start something. An idea could pop up in your mind and sometimes it could be someone speaking to you regarding a path you should follow.

Other times, it could be an unction from within. It can be a phrase that God highlights to you whether it is when you are watching a movie or while having a conversation with someone. These are just some of the ways God could highlight a specific path to you. And another sign could be you identify with a particular passage from the Bible in a way you never had. You see, God can speak to you in different ways. And as long as you are sensitive, you will recognize when He speaks to you.

Challenges and warfare.

One thing you should always keep in mind is that the enemy will always contradict the word of God. In fact, one foolproof sign that a word is from God is when you experience warfare in that area you received prophecy. After all, there is no way the enemy would waste his time challenging your word. The devil has always and will always challenge and contradict God’s word.

That is exactly what happened in the garden of Eden. The devil challenged what God had told Eve and deceived her into eating the fruit. And we all know what happened after that. The devil did not come up with his own idea. Rather, he twisted what God had already said, causing Eve to stumble.

The same thing happened in the wilderness when the enemy tempted Jesus. In the 3 instances, his goal was to make Jesus question what God had said and spoken over him. As you can remember just before the temptation God validated Jesus after John baptized him by saying that He was His beloved Son with whom He was well pleased.

And now fast forward to the garden, the devil in all instances started his temptation by saying’ if you are the Son of God then do this or that. Let’s check out the scripture.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ 11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. Mathew 4

From this, we can see that the enemy will only contradict the word of God. And anytime you experience warfare in any area after you have had a prophetic word, then you will know without a shadow of a doubt that the dream is from God.

Just to bring this point home, let me give you an example. So let’s say you start a podcast. And you realize that creating content is natural for you. But getting traffic is an issue. Often times you will find yourself questioning whether what you have started is from God. But a clear sign that God wanted you to start the podcast is when, despite your effort, you can’t seem to get by. When this happens then you can be sure that the dream is from God. And just to qualify this key, let’s go to the next point which is.

You will always have an inner knowing when a dream is from God.

There will always be that inner knowing that tells you to keep going despite the hurdles you are experiencing. When this happens then you will know that the dream is from God. You will have the conviction that you are headed in the right direction and that what you are doing will work out. So to go back to the podcast example.

There will always be that conviction that tells you to keep pushing despite the fact that you have no traffic. And the conviction will not make sense to you because of your external situations. Have you ever experienced this?

Have you ever had moments where despite how much you try to shake off the idea that your dream will materialize and you will see the fruit of your labor to no avail? If you have experienced this, then I want to encourage you to keep going. This is a clear sign that God put the dream in your heart

God will never give you false hopes. Therefore, that inner knowing that encourages you to keep going means that your dream will materialize and your idea will bear fruit. Don’t allow the enemy to tempt you into giving up.

Had Tyler Perry given up on his dream we wouldn’t know him today. And the same case applies to you. What about Jeff Bezos? Would we have known him had it not been for Amazon? Hope this shows you the potential of a God-given dream. The impact of a dream that came from God is monumental.

You always circle back to it. And experience unfulfillment with everything else you try.

A dream that is from God is something you cannot shake off, no matter how much you try. You might even put it aside for a while, years even. But as long as it’s from God, you will never run away from it entirely. This is because, at some point, you will find yourself with the desire to try again or start over

And the interesting thing is, even when you try something different, you will always feel unfulfilled until you circle back to that dream.

Moses, while in the wilderness, was not fulfilled. He still did what needed to be done, but he was never fulfilled. This was until he took on his role as the deliverer of the Israelites. And that’s another thing with a dream that came from God. When your dream came from God, you will always feel fulfilled when you are doing it. And also, it will not feel like work when you are at it.

There are people who struggle to put out content, but when it’s God-given, you will never run out of ideas.

Circling back to the podcast example. You will always find a topic to talk about because, again, it is from God. What God gives, He sustains.

When a dream is from God it will believe for you.

And this will be in the form of you receiving testimonies from people of how what you are doing helps them. And this will give you the desire and the drive to keep going. Often times it will be one or two people. And they will not be afraid to tell you how your product, service, blog, podcast, etc helped them and blessed them.

This is your dream believing in you and telling you to keep going. Granted, these 2 people will not necessarily help you to stay afloat financially, especially when you don’t have a backup plan. But they will give you enough hope to believe for more. No wonder the Bible reminds us to never despise the days of small beginnings.

If what you are putting out there is impacting one person, just know that this is a sign that more people will be impacted if you don’t give up. So don’t give up. Keep going because you will receive a reward when you faint not. There is a blessing waiting for you on the other side of your persistence and perseverance

Scriptures that will help you keep going when you are tempted to give up.

1 Corinthians 9:24

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.

Isaiah 40:29-31

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

James 1:12

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Matthew 19:26

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Conclusion

You cannot shake off a dream that came from God. You will always find yourself coming back to it no matter how much you try to run away from it. Tyler Perry would always go back to his dream despite the numerous failures. And in the end, it paid off.

A dream that came from God will always pay off in the end. No wonder in Habakkuk 2 God says that although it tarries, it will come to pass. It is just a matter of the ordained time. There is a set time for you to break through and experience the full manifestation of that idea you have been working on. You have not labored in vain.

Don’t give up, you never know, you could be on the brink of your miracle. Child of God today I want to encourage you not to throw in the towel. You serve a God who is trustworthy and faithful. And He knows how to bring that dream to fruition and have you enjoy the fruit of your labor. The birthing of your promise will always be difficult. But in the end, there is always a joy. And once you get to the other side you will forget the pain you are experiencing now.

All it takes is one word from God and you will experience a shift. And the cool thing is that God can change your situation in an instant. God changed Joseph’s identity in a day. He went from being a prisoner to being the second in command just like that. Esther went from obscurity to being the queen. With God everything is possible. Which of the 5 spoke to you the most? And what other keys might you have? Let me know. I am looking forward to reading your views too.
